For Coaches & Volunteers
Coaches and volunteers play a vital role in creating a safe, positive and inclusive environment for all players.
All individuals must follow FA safeguarding guidance and uphold the highest standards of behaviour both on and off the pitch.
Coaches are expected to:
-
Prioritise the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of players
-
Promote respect, fair play and positive behaviour
-
Ensure all activities are suitable for age and ability
-
Never tolerate bullying, abuse, or inappropriate behaviour
Failure to follow these standards may result in disciplinary action by the club, league, or County FA.
As a coach, you must:
-
Hold valid safeguarding certification
-
Follow FA and league codes of conduct
-
Ensure players are supervised appropriately
-
Report any concerns immediately
If you have any concerns about a child’s welfare, it is important that this is reported.
You can:
-
Speak to your Club Welfare Officer
-
Contact the League Welfare Team
-
Report concerns directly if needed
Safeguarding concerns should always be taken seriously and reported as soon as possible.
Immediate danger: If a child is at immediate risk, contact the police or emergency services.
